Courses numbered 500 and above are graduate level courses. Graduate courses are both more advanced and complex in academic content and more rigorous than undergraduate courses. In some cases, a graduate level course may be cross-listed with an undergraduate course. In such cases, graduate-level course expectations will exceed the expectations of the academic content of the undergraduate-level course with which the graduate course is cross-listed. Course expectations may be differentiated through assessment measures such as exams, written assignments, computational exercises, etc. Or graduate-level course expectations may include more advanced learning through additional and/or more sophisticated reading assignments, research projects, course facilitation or experiential activities, and so forth. Grading standards for graduate-level work will also be more rigorous.
